Third World is one of Jamaica’s most consistently popular crossover acts among international audiences. Mixing in elements of R&B, funk, pop, and rock and, later on, dancehall and rap, Third World’s style has been described as “reggae-fusion.” 10 Grammy nominations and a catalogue of charted smash hits, (including “Now That We Found Love”, ”96 Degrees in the Shade” and “Try Jah Love”), spanning over four decades, sold-out tours, a vibrant and loyal fan base and inspirational messages make this band a festival favorite. Yami Bolo Also starring at San Diego Reggae Vegan Fest is Yami Bolo from Kingston, Jamaica, who has been releasing singles since the 1980’s. He gained international acclaim in the mid-90’s for his collaboration with Japanese reggae performer Miya which led to 500,000 record album sales in Japan. The duo also won the title of Best Music Video in Japan in 1994. Bolo was a part of Damian Marley’s 2001 Grammy-winning album and has collaborated with other top stars. He will be backed by Quinto Sol. Iakopo Southern California native Iakopo burst on the music scene in 2007 with the hit single "Let Your Light Shine". The artist signed with Sony Japan, and his 2016 hit "Touchdown" featuring Shaggy made him an international sensation. His new album "Waves", recorded in Hawaii, was just released featuring the single "Never Letting Go". Jordan T Former lead guitarist/vocalist of the Maui band Maoli (HI) relentlessly pursued his dreams which led him to play as lead guitarist/vocalist touring the globe with the legendary international reggae band, Katchafire (NZ). His music is a mainstay on Hawaiian and international reggae radio stations in O’ahu, Maui, Big Island of Hawai’i, Guam, Tahiti, Cali, Japan, and various European stations. His most renowned singles include his #1 hawaiian hit, “Sunset Tonight” (2013), “Closer To You” (2015), and the most recent release off of his Debut Album (Bridges with the Vibes) “Find Ya Riddim” (2017), which features Jemere Morgan, son of Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage. To fund the production of his independent debut “Bridges with the Vibes” (2017) album and future tours, he and his fanbase raised $30,000 after exceeding their initial goal of $23,000. Following the successful campaign, Jordan T linked up with Habitat for Humanity in Nicaragua (2017) to give back, building housing for those in need. Empress Akua Roots Reggae vocalist, songwriter, recording and performing artist, Empress Akua creates music that uplifts, informs and expresses the creative foundation of reggae, including live musicians for studio recording and employing techniques in the sessions that are rooted in the genre’s genesis in Jamaica five decades ago. Committed to the “meditation of a goddess”, her vision and message remains to uplift Pan African culture in the diaspora and encourage positive thought and actions as well as exhibiting compassion for the well-being of the less fortunate. Her powerful, soul-stirring voice and performance style have drawn comparisons to the likes of Lauryn Hill, Marcia Griffiths, and Judy Mowatt all three of which the artist names as her personal musical influences. Band Members: Bellywize Davis – Lead Vocals, Aaron Valdez – Keys, Vocals, Shane Buono – Guitar, Vocals, Evan Hein – Bass, Blake Bartz – Drums General Jah Mikey Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, General Jah Mikey, born Michael Mitchell, has manifested the title, “Lyrical Ambassador” from over two decades of musical experience and vocal talent. Jah Mikey’s alluring sonorous tone and melodic style have expanded his capacity, and he is gifted with more than just Rasta appeal. In addition to his lyrical and rich reggae sound, Jah Mikey has recorded in many musical genres, including Jungle, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Hardcore, and House. His sultry singing style is a colorful combination of dancehall, lover’s rock, hip hop, jazz and R&B. Lamour and the Mystic Band Guitarist, singer song writer, EVANS LAMOUR aka E. LAMOUR roots run deep with musical wealth. Growing up in The West Indies of Haiti was a member of a school choir which inspired him to learn how to sing and play guitar. Later moved to NY city where he started performing in the local clubs and doing wedding, schools ,colleges, also concerts. One day he was called by a promoter to come to California, where he joined a group of friends which became the “Magyk Band”. Where he begin to record a variety of rhythms called world beats. Recording all sounds like Konpa, Soca, Reggae, R&B,and jazz having the opportunity to work with such artists like “George Clinton” of the Funkadelic’s, “Club Noveau”, “Andrew Tosh”, “Junior P”, “Maxie Priest”, “Frank Paul” EEK-A-Mouse”, “Sugar Minnot”, Shinehead, Shakaman, tracks written for Anthony B, Jr. Reed, Mega Baton, & Bounty Killer for Seven Star Productions. Kymani Marley, Brother J from the X-Clan, Jr. Cat, Evelyn Champaign King, Rose Royce (Double Platinum Group), Troop, The Dazz Band, Craig Walker from Santana. After touring Mexico, Costa Rica, England, Paris France, and the U.S. with the “Magyk Band”. He help to compile songs and music for NBC movie of the Week “Glitz”. Evans Lamour produced his first CD entitled “Reggae Lover” featuring the “DeBarge” brothers of the Motown Recording. Lamour & The Mystik Band had Opened two year straight, back-to-back for the Bob Marley Festival at the Long Beach Arena, now know as the Ragga muffin Festival with General Jah Mikey Recent works of Lamour & The Mystik Band embarked on a California regional tour supporting a new CD, entitled “Leave H.I.M. Alone”, presented by Roots & Culture International. Sensi Trails Originally from Outer Banks, NC, Sensi Trails got their start and gained a following on the east coast and before moving to San Diego toured heavily for two years. Since moving to Ocean Beach, Sensi Trails have received an incredible amount of support from the reggae community. Sensi Trails have shared the stage among bands such as The Movement, The Original Wailers, Pato Banton, Kyle Smith and Through The Roots. Sensi Trails have also spent time in the studio at Imperial Sound Studios with well-known producer, E.N. Young. Drifting Roots Drifting Roots is a two piece reggae band based out of Southern California. The music is written, recorded, and produced by the oldest brother Matthew, who works out of his studio from home. Matthews process consist of layering each instrument he plays in the studio one at a time, which brings to life a full reggae dub sound. Originally from the Southeast, Matt spent time in different areas of the country exploring new places and teaching himself the recording and production process of music. After some planning and preparing, Matthew and Chris decided to move to San Diego to finish their recording and start playing shows.
